Just looking at the previous celebration the costumes the participants were wearing they look like in the Mardi Gras of New Orleans and the Sinulog festival of Cebu City. They really had fancy costumes in parade. It must really be big festival being promoted as one of the 3 festival by the Department of Tourism. It really attracts lots of people all over the world.

They also have search for Miss Caracoles and it will be chosen by votes on March 8th at one of the big town in Samal in Penaplata. Theirs like 16  pretty candidates. Here are the names of the candidates:  Joneth, Joy, Roselle, Macusana, Rushell, Vanessa, Nonies, Rizyl, Catherine, Loury Jean, Ailyn Grace, Darling, Therese, Marjorie, Sashritemae, and Edgel. Good luck to the candidates.

I’ve heard of the festival before but I didn’t have the chance to go and see. I might go this year though will see. It just intrigued me that the Department of Tourism really promotes this festival. As you know the date of the celebaration for the Caracoles Festival really its not that far from the Araw Ng Davao festival. And this is as big as the one in Davao City. I didn’t even realize how big of a crowd they have there in Samal. As I saw on the report it could reach up to 60,000 on lookers. Thats pretty amazing just thinking how little Samal Island is. But to be honest I am happy it will make the place be more known to the world. The place they do have the festivities its not that too far from the land that we owned. Hmm, its going to be jumped packed in that area coming end of April. I am really excited about it. I am also looking forward to another festival there in Samal thats being held in Babak. That’s going to be my next blog though. I do hope to see you guys there. Lets help celebrate then and have fun.

Well his girlfriend contacted me and asked me if I could accompany her to see the land and I told her sure and to just let me know when she’s in Davao. Just less than a week she’s here in Davao already. So we set up time to go to Samal and see the land. I showed her all the land thats for sale that my friend is selling. I brought her to Kaputian a small town in Samal. A place where Pearl Farm located and  its near the property of my friend. I showed her the land and she really like it. The land was just 3 meters away from the water and you can even see Pearl Farm. The price that my friend is selling for is P3,000 pesos per square meter. He also had lots that are a bit further from the water and the price there is P2,800 per square meter. Its a white sand beach. The view is really awesome.

Just across the property you can see Davao City, Mt. Apo, if good weather Mt. Matutum in Polomok, South Cotabato. Nice sunrise and sunset.

Not far from Hagimit falls if you just follow the main road you will reach the small town of Del Monte. My friend also owned a property there. It’s more for farming. He already had coconut and some fruit tress on the land. He is selling P700,000 per hectare. It has view of mountains there. I’ve been to the place and its really nice. His caretaker planted in some area with corn. If any of you are interested on one of the property just email me and I can hook you up with the owner.

The lady that I showed my friends place was really so interested with the beach area. She told me that her boyfriend wants to live near the beach. She really liked the property. On our way out the family of the lady wanted to see Pearl Farm since on the land I showed her you can see Pearl Farm, and they’ve never been to the Pearl Farm they wanted to see it. So we decided to drive there. Well, it’s further than what the brother wants to drive and he got scared that we might get stuck on the mud.  The brother then decided to just go back to the paved road and go see some other property. On our way out of Kaputian the next town out was San Jose. When we reached to main highway from Kaputian and San Jose the big sign of Hagimit Falls was just right across the road where we went. As soon as the lady saw the sign she immediately asked me if its okay for all of us to go there? What can I say I’ve never been to the place myself, I told her sure. I’m glad I did. The place was just beautiful and you can tell not much tourist have gone there yet. It’s so green and just so clean. Wow the water was something to look at. Just watching the people swimming at the bottom of the falls makes it exciting. I saw some kids jumping from the top of the falls. I don’t think I would jump though.  I’m too chicken to jump.  Ha ha ha.

Really if you happen to be in that area, go see the Hagimit Falls you won’t be sorry you went. Whenever you go there try to bring a lot of food with you they don’t have a restaurant there yet. Just a small store was there. But the place is not that far from Penaplata (one of the main towns of Samal Island) I think later they will have restaurant there. They are still working on improving the place. They had cottages for just eating and they also had rooms there that you can rent for overnight. I didn’t asked how much the price for staying there. The entrance fee was just 10pesos. You can parked your vehicle there if you bring one. The road to go there from the main road is not that far and its not paved yet. I’m sure when they are done with the improvement they will paved the road to go there from the main highway.

An Update: I think Hagimit Falls already have lots of cottages now and they already had place to eat and order: I think you can even stay overnight…

We would really like to move to Samal right away, but unfortunately, it is not practical for us right now.  We have kids who are still young.  Our youngest is just 9 years old right now.  Unfortunately, there are no schools on Samal Island at this time that are up the quality standards that we want for our kids.

While Samal is not far from the City, the commute is long enough, that it is not practical for our kids to commute to school in the City either.

But, we will make it to Samal, and it won’t be that long!  For now, it’s good that we can visit the Island regularly, and also dream about life there!

When we make it over there permanently, will we see you there?  I hope so!

The Whitehouse of Samal Island

Our land its just 50 Meters or so away meters from The Whitehouse of Samal. It has a good view of the city of Davao, gulf of Davao and Mt. Apo. Also if good weather you can even see  Mt. Matutum in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The land is on the top of the hill. It already has electricity, the water is just down the street. If somebody starts building they will bring the water to the place where we have the land now. Also we are thinking of collecting rain water too. I think the SmartBro for internet works there.  I know it works in much of Samal, but we still have to have a site survey done to see if works right in that location yet.  It SmartBro doesn’t work now, it certainly will in the not-so-distant future. No problems for TV,  just have Dream Satelite TV.

Down the hill from us you can see lots of famous and good resorts of Samal like Paradise Island, Chemas by the Sea, Blue Waters, Costa Marina and many more. The land it’s just 10 to 15 minutes away from the ferry terminal. From the terminal to the city with the ferry it just takes like 10 minutes.

The land is also not far from a small shopping store. This store is just good for everyday little thing. If you want to shop for good variety of stuff just go to the city then. Samal is not equiped for that yet, but it will be in a few years, I expect.

The owner is selling the land right now for P2500 per square meter. I guess he is also offering an installment payment of up to 48 months. Just put 20% down payment and the rest you pay it monthly. He is a nice guy and really easy to talk to. All land has title.  If you are interested I could hook you up with the owner .
